The renowned Balletto di Milano, considered one of Italy’s finest ballet companies, presents the timeless story of Carmen in a new and original interpretation of Prosper Mérimée’s work, best known through Georges Bizet’s iconic opera.

Carmen is a story of love and passion, telling the tragic fate of a fiercely independent woman whose desire for freedom is ultimately crushed by a man’s destructive jealousy, leading to her final, heartbreaking downfall in his hands.

Balletto di Milano, whose dancers are graduates of the legendary La Scala Academy, is often described as an ambassador of Italian ballet, captivating audiences worldwide with its artistry and elegance. The company has toured extensively throughout Italy and has performed on major stages in the USA, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Cyprus, and beyond. Since 1998, the company has been directed by the acclaimed choreographer Carlo Pesta, Knight of the Order of the Italian Republic.

Carlo Pesta studied dance at the Teatro alla Scala School in Milan and at the Moscow School of Dance, and for many years was a soloist with the La Scala Ballet. Under his guidance, the dancers of Balletto di Milano have reached the highest level of technical excellence.

The company’s style is neoclassical, enriched with fresh and unexpected elements of contemporary choreography. The classical foundation is preserved, along with the dancers’ lightness and ethereal quality, the precision of every movement, and outstanding technical perfection.
