Billy Cobham is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential figures in the history of jazz fusion. With his explosive energy, unmatched technique, and distinctive personal style, he has left an indelible mark on contemporary music.
As co-founder of the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra alongside John McLaughlin, Cobham has collaborated with some of the greatest musicians of all time, including Miles Davis, Stanley Clarke, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, George Benson, and Gato Barbieri. His remarkable artistic journey has established him as one of the most respected drummers and composers of his generation.
His groundbreaking solo album “Spectrum” (1973) remains a landmark recording in jazz fusion history. The iconic track “Stratus” became a classic and later served as the foundation for Massive Attack’s celebrated song “Safe From Harm”, introducing Cobham’s music to a whole new audience.
Joined by an exceptional group of musicians, each with a distinguished career in jazz, Billy Cobham returns to the stage for a unique performance. The ensemble includes renowned drummer and keyboardist Gary Husband, a member of John McLaughlin’s 4th Dimension Group, and acclaimed guitarist Rocco Zifarelli, long-time guitarist of Ennio Morricone.
As part of the 61st Dimitria Festival, the legendary Billy Cobham will perform on October 7, offering audiences an extraordinary evening filled with virtuosity, improvisation, and authentic jazz fusion.
