The performance features the all-female Italian orchestra Le Muse, together with Morricone’s iconic diva Susanna Rigacci, who collaborated with the maestro in his concerts for over 20 years.
Alongside the live performance of some of the most famous soundtracks in cinematic history, the audience will experience projections of unforgettable scenes from films by Sergio Leone, Federico Fellini, Giuseppe Tornatore and Francis Ford Coppola, accompanied by a brief narration of Morricone’s life and artistic legacy—creating a truly immersive and unforgettable experience.
Ennio Morricone, the Italian composer and conductor who captivated global audiences, was awarded two Academy Awards, three Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes, two European Film Awards, the Golden Lion, and many more distinctions throughout his career. With over 70 million records sold worldwide, his compositions have inspired generations and spanned multiple musical genres, establishing him as the most influential film score composer of all time.
This tribute concert, presented at Astoria Theatre, stands as a heartfelt homage to the great maestro.
The symphonic ensemble Le Muse from Italy is composed entirely of female musicians, many of whom come from the renowned orchestra Rondo Veneziano. Beyond their extensive experience in classical music, they bring a unique sensitivity and precision to the interpretation of Morricone’s compositions, known for their powerful ability to evoke imagery.
This tribute was first presented in 2016, following Morricone’s Academy Award, and received the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic as the most representative homage to the great composer. Since then, it has been performed in numerous countries across Europe, as well as in America and Asia, including Los Angeles, Bangkok, San Francisco, New Delhi, Rabat, Mumbai, Toronto and more.
A special highlight of the orchestra is the outstanding soprano Daniela Placci, while the ensemble is conducted by pianist, founder and maestro Andrea Albertini.
